JAKE LANGLEY BIO
Originally from Toronto Jake has been an in-demand guitarist for for over 25 years. Jake held the guitar chair with the illustrious Joey Defrancesco Trio for five years, performing world wide and recording 3 award winning Cds on Concord Records. "Organic Vibes" featured Jazz legends George Coleman, and Bobby Hutcherson. "Authorized Bootlegs" was recorded live at Yoshis and featured legendary sax man George Coleman. He also recorded on Jamey Aebersold play along volume 118.
His Jazz credits read like a who's who of Jazz history with the likes of Jazz icons Bobby Hutcherson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Steve Gadd, Pat Labarbara, Sam Yahel, James Moody, Trudy Pitts, George Coleman, Billy Hart, Houston Person, Pee Wee Ellis, Scott Hamilton, Garth Hudson, Ron Blake and Bill Cosby and others.
Jake Toured with Bobby "Blue" Bland when he was 18 years old and never looked back. He earned a Bmus in jazz studies from Concordia University in Montreal and quickly became the top call session guitarist and jazz musician in Toronto, and as session guitarist at the C.B.C. played on many Jingles, soundtracks, T.V. shows and albums. Jake has won aJuno awards, and the presigious National Jazz Award in 2004/2005.
Jake moved to New York and toured with Joey Defranceso, as well as doing sessions when he was not touring. He has also performed with Soul music legends Roberta Flack, with Pop artists K.D. Lange, Donnie and Marie Osmond, The Rightous Brothers, David Clayton Thomas, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson. He also made his way into Broadway playing in many shows such as The Color Purple, Mama Mia, Hair, Wickid, Chicago and Jesus Christ Superstar, and 3 mo' Divas. He has performed with Chisten Chenowith, Idena Menzel, Bernadette Peters, and Joan Rivers.
As a recording artist, jake's fourth jazz organ trio CD "Here and Now" was released in 2009 features New York heavyweights Sam Yahel and Ian Froman. Jake released two award winning CDs as a leader with Joey Defrancesco and Byron Landham "Diggin' In", and "Movin' and Groovin" (Alma Universal) the latter was nominated for a Juno Award in Canada in 2007.
Jake produced legendary blues pianist Pinetop Perkins last recording in 2011 featuring Gary Clark J.R .
He currently performs in “BAZ” at the Pallazzo Las Vegas and at Cirque Du Soleil "KA" . Jake continues to write and produces music for film, T.V. and other media and for other recording artists at his Studio Led Dillo. www.leddillo.com
